Six-year Contract Extension for Dallas Cowboys’ Miles Austin
Published on Thursday, September 9, 2010 by Betting And Games

Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys agreed to sign a six-year contract extension for wide receiver Pro Bowler Miles Austin.  Austin had originally signed a one-year deal in June worth just over $3 million as a restricted free agent.  This six-year is ultimately worth $57 million according to ESPN and has Austin under the Cowboys’ wing until 2016.

Last year, he was the Cowboys absolute best receiver when he scored 11 touchdowns in addition to catching 81 passes for 1,320 yards, which was the sixth best in the team’s history as well as the sixth best by any undrafted rookie receiver in NFL history.  In his first start of his career with the Cowboys, Austin caught 10 passes for 250 yards as well as two touchdowns.  He also secured the new record of single-game yardage record, which was previously held by Bullet Bob Hayes in 1966.

Originally an undrafted rookie, Austin is now a starter for the Dallas Cowboys.  As stated previously, he signed a one-year deal earlier this year but has now been inked to a long-term six-year contract.  The Cowboys wanted to secure a long-term contract with him and have now successfully done so.  It’s a team where Austin wants to be and it’s a team that wants him to be there – he said so himself to the Dallas Morning News.
