Rooney Playing Without Serious Injury
Published on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 by mary

Sir Alex Ferguson seemed eager to have Wayne Rooney in the game against Benfica. The manager considered it very important to have the footballer in the game. He must play in the game that Manchester United must also win. He can also play if really without a serious injury. He can be considered fit.

Ferguson said: “We’ve got one or two knocks from Saturday. Jonny Evans has some tightness in his hamstring but will hopefully be okay tomorrow. Wayne’s got a few knocks and missed training today but should be okay. Chris Smalling trained this morning but won’t be available for tomorrow – he should be okay for Saturday (against Newcastle) and Anderson is out injured.”

Ferguson considered the game against Benfica a big game. Rooney must play and just try to create goals in the game. It would be a game that Manchester United must win. Ferguson was hopeful. The manager wanted to see the footballer play without a serious injury. It appeared that he would be happy to see him there and just trying to make goals in the game. It would be helpful to have him. He may just deliver and Manchester United may also succeed. Supporters were also hopeful. They wanted to see him play in the game.

Ferguson said: “It’s a big game. We recognise it’s a real European game with history between Benfica and ourselves. Probably the bonus coming out of it is if we do finish top (of the group). One issue is the teams you’ll play but the other one is the second leg is at home at Old Trafford. It’s always an advantage so it’s always been our intention to finish top. That’s not always been the case as we’ve finished second several times but, with the quality of the teams, it does not make a great difference.”
