LadbrokesLadbrokes, the popular and England’s largest bookmaker is the very latest bookmaker cited by the Advertising Standards Authority. The ASA believed that Ladbroke’s latest ad should be banned.

The ad conveys thrill-seekers jumping from a plane with a crisp packet for a parachute or getting up like a seal in water that is infested by shark. The bookmaker expresses they should just rather “Quench their thrill buds” by punting on its site.

The ASA sees the ad as something that connects gambling to a behavior that is reckless or careless. However, Ladbrokes believes that the citing is just political issue related. John
O’Reilly of Ladbrokes even said, “this is political correctness going too far.” And also, Ladbrokes is not the only company that the agency has cited.

In the past, Paddy Power, Ireland’s biggest bookmaker, has been cited on more than one occasion for relating gambling to sexual prowess. The citing involves the ad with dwarfs in positions that are compromising.

Intercasino was also cited once for having ads with also little people in stunts that were Jackass-like. ThePool.com was also engaged in a citing as the site was questioned by the ASA before because of an intriguing ad campaign that was remembered to promote gambling to minors.

The ASA is now seen by many bookmakers as a stern or strict agency. However, ASA stands firm in checking every ads being released in whatever form. As their name suggests, ASA continues to keep advertising standards.
