Bodog Controversy Continues
Published on Friday, January 9, 2009 by mary

Bodog has been facing controversy for some time now. Right now, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service has already filed court documents pertaining to Bodog’s involvement to use of some companies in Malta to bypass U.S. so it could eventually give to its customers in the States their payment.

According to the papers, the companies that Bodog has used for its personal affairs include Stratham Finance, of which Calvin Ayre is a sole shareholder and a director. There are still some other companies that are Malta-based that were used by Bodog and were believed to be directed as well by Calvin Ayre or if not by his right-hand, James Philip, a former partner at Morgan & Co. chartered accountants situated in Vancouver.

Again according to the papers, IRS documents confirmed that an unnamed “cooperating individual” who is a “big” person at MPS Processing Ltd. In U.K., told investigators of IRS that his firm got funds from Stratham Finance, then moved the funds to an American money processing company so winners could get their payment in check or via electronic payment.

At this stage, the IRS has already taken funds of Bodog which totaled to $24 million and plans to take more.

Calvin Ayre is nowhere to be found. Recently, he was featured on 2006 Forbes Billionaire issue cover.

Presently, some sites avoid doing business with Bodog and two of these sites include Gambling911.com and Covers.com. This is believed to be result of Bodog’s bad image which was product of cash seizures and complains from customers because of their inability to make payments.
