In this text I will focus on Premier Leagues matches for the coming weekend. I will break down the text in two parts. I will give you my thoughts and analysis in all the ten games. Some of the games is good picks compared to the odds and others not. I will try to sort all this out.
Coming round in Barclays Premier League this weekend is the fifteenth game for most of the teams. Besides Arsenal (13), Manchester City (13), Hull (15) and Bolton (13) every other team have fourteen played games.
December and January is two very critical and interesting months for Premier league. When lots of other leagues in Europe go down in intense for Christmas / New year Premier League goes the other way and increase tempo.
This is also the time when the teams with strong benches and strong reserve players will go better then those who trust their best eleven – twelve players. Because in this intensive face of the league lots of players have to rest, will get injured, have suspensions and so on.
Here are all the matches from the fifteenth round, the first in December, with starting time (CET):

Here are all my picks and analysis for the coming weekend:
Portsmouth 1.85 draw 3.50 Burnley 3.90 – My pick, home win @ 1.85
Portsmouth is not going to good in Premier League and is last in the league after fourteen games. Even though I from the beginning thought that they would have a tough season this year since they sold lots of key players but didn’t buy new players in these positions.
But I never thought that they would have only 7 points after 14 games (witch means 0.5 points per match in average). This game is more then important for Pompay because the other teams are running away from the bottom of the table.
Another reason why this is a vital game for Portsmouth is that their opponent, Burnley, probably will be one of the teams that Portsmouth will challenge against to avoid relegation later in 2010.
And compared to the last round Portsmouth actually played pretty well even though they lost against Manchester United with 1 – 4 home at Fratton Park. After the first half it stood 1 – 1 and Portsmouth was slightly better. But as bigger team often do, United changed up the gear in second half and took a pretty easy win.
At the same time Burnley lost away against West Ham with amazing 5 – 3. It is notable that West Ham had a 5 – 0 lead and then relaxed a bit too much. But the game was actually secured after the first half. I think that Portsmouth has good opportunities to win this game and the odds at 1.85 attract me to put a bet.
Aston Villa 1.45 draw 4.00 Hull City 7.00, my pick – Home win @ 1.45
Aston Villa played 1 – 1 against Tottenham home at Villa Park last Saturday while Hull took a strong point away against Manchester City, 1 – 1 even there.
Aston Villa is normally very strong home at Villa Park and rarely drops point against team like Hull. Before this game Aston Villa have the sixth position in the league and two points behind Arsenal from the Champions League position.
I like Hull’s way of playing. They never fall back and lay down for only defensive play. Last year they chocked lots of the better teams but it seams like the bigger sides have learned how Hull is playing now and that gives them a big advantage.
I think that Aston Villa will win this game and even though 1.45 in odds can feel a bit low I think that this is a playable odds in this game with these pre-conditions.
Blackburn Rovers 4.50 draw 3.50 FC Liverpool 1.75 – No bet
I choose to not place any bet on this game. Liverpool is favourites and should be that as well. And even though Liverpool played well against Everton in the Mercy side derby I am not sure where I have them yet.
Liverpool is so depending on their two key players, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, specially the Spanish striker Torres who scores lots of goals when he plays. But without Torres Liverpool’s manager Rafa Benitez keeps playing with David Ngog on top and I don’t think he is a player that should be starting player in a team as Liverpool yet.
So if Torres will play from start on Saturday this might be a good bet on Liverpool, otherwise my recommendation is to not bet since Liverpool have shown to many ups and downs this year.
I will continue with my analysis in next text. Please read that as well for more good betting tips.
