Who’s the Best Man at the US Open?
Published on Thursday, August 26, 2010 by Betting And Games

The US Open, arguably the second most popular tennis tournament in the world, gets underway August 30 from Flushing Meadows in New York. Even if you don’t normally go in for betting on tennis, this may be a good time to start. As the fourth Grand Slam tournament, the US Open has seen some remarkable play since its inception, and this year should be no different.

We’ll take a quick look at the Men’s singles event.

It has come down to a virtual toss-up between Federer, Nadal and Murray, with Novak Djokovic also winning some favor. If we examine how these players have been performing to this point, it would seem that it might be Andy Murray’s time to shine. Generally, when someone gets rid of their coach, it’s a sign of trouble to come, but not for Murray, who bulldozed through both Nadal and Federer to win the Rogers Cup in Toronto. In fact, he was only the fifth player to beat both Nadal and Federer in the same tournament. His more aggressive forehand style seems to be taking the competition by storm, but these guys are some of the best to ever play the game, and they will no doubt bounce back.

Speaking of bouncing back, Federer has done so very well, after winning the Australian Open and then falling on hard times through the French Open and Wimbledon. He took the Cincinnati Open and gave Murray a tough challenge in Toronto. Though he lost in straight sets, he now knows what Murray can do and will no doubt be better prepared should they face each other in New York.

Rafael Nadal, the top seed, had a tremendous start to his 2010 season. However, of late, he seems to b running out of gas, with sub-par performances in both Toronto and Cincinnati. But is he just saving his best stuff for Flushing Meadows?

Any of these three could take command of the 2010 US Open, but Andy Murray is on a  tear, and it’s coming at the right time. He has put himself in the perfect position to win his first Grand Slam.
