In May of this year, it was apparent that the double-bye format was in trouble when all the basketball coaches of the Big East were unanimous to change the 2011 league tournament format; however, when the report reached the Big East Presidents, the outcome was different.  The Presidents were not unanimous in the decision and therefore the same double-bye format that we have had in the past two years in tournaments will remain the same for the 2011 Big East tournament.

While the Big East directors have decided to not allow the removal of byes for the 2011 Big East tournament, that does not mean that it won’t be considered for tournaments after that.

However, for now, it will remain that those that finish in the top four will advance to the quarterfinals immediately with teams 5-8 receiving a single bye along with the teams finishing 9-16 must win a total of five games in order to claim the championship.  Therefore, teams 9-16 will compete in the first round with four of the teams coming out on top who will then go up against teams 5-8.  The four winners of this second round will meet the first four teams in the quarterfinals.

Apart from injuries, Serena Williams and Justin Henin were the two favorites to win this event; however, injuries have overcome them and they will not be participating in this year’s final Grand Slam event of the year.  With that said, Kim Clijsters is the favorite to win this year’s 2010 U.S. Open for the women.

Clijesters will compete to defend her title that she won last year.  In addition, she also won this event back in 2005.  Next up is Maria Sharapova with a 2006 title for this event and then two-time winner Venus Williams is also a clear bet.  Svetlana Kuznetsova won this event in 2004 and in 2007, finished runner-up and has decent odds of taking home this year’s title.

As for Clijsters, she has a strong hold as she just won a couple weeks ago in Cincinnati, which was her first claimed victory since early April.  Two of the past three Grand Slam events have gone to Serena Williams; however, she will be unable to bring her play to the court.

The women’s U.S. Open tournament this year will begin Monday, August 30, 2010 and come to a halt Sunday, September 12, 2010.  The tournament will be played on hard courts and is something that any bettor should keep in mind when placing bets.

While Juan Martin del Potro won this particular event last year, he will be unable to defend his title as he sitting out due to an injury that he sustained.  In 2003, Andy Roddick won the event and has decent odds of winning this year.

In the AL East, the Rays are trying to sneak up on the Yankees. Back by only two games, where they’ve been for weeks, they’re keeping up with the Bronx bombers and putting themselves in good position to strike, should the Yankees give them an opening. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are going to need to elevate their play to catch the Yankees, and they remain four games behind Tampa Bay for the Wild Card, with closely followed by Minnesota..

The AL Central is a quieter race, with the Twins only a half a game behind the White Sox and half a game behind the Red Sox in the Wild Card.

The AL West is the only division in the MLB where the race is relatively open. At this point, the Rangers have a fairly comfortable but by no means assured 7.5 game lead over Oakland, with the once contending Angels now nine games off the pace.

The NL East will no doubt be going down to the wire, with the Philly’s breathing down the necks of the Braves at two games back. The Mets will need to put together some wins to threaten for either the division or the Wild Card, at 9 games back in both.

Cincinnati continues to lead the NL Central, with the Cardinals dogging them at two games behind. . St. Louis is only a game behind in the Wild Card, with the Phillys half a game in front of them.

Out west, the Padres continue their Cinderella season atop the division. The Dodgers seem to be fizzling in the August heat, but the Giants are making them work for their season, only behind by two, followed by the Rockies at six and a half back.

Even though there is a small risk that some changes might be done later, I feel satisfied with the knowledge that I have today and feel that I can bet on the league winners 2010 / 2011.

In these two texts I will give you my analyze for the eight top teams in Premier League according to both the odds and my own feelings. Because I cannot see how any other team can compete in the league, title race besides the top eight clubs that bwin has listed as the favourites.

First of all I will give you the relevant facts regarding the teams that I have listed here, and finally I will give you the most valuable bet on which team I recommend you to bet on as winner of the Premier League for the coming season. I will start with my analyze, starting from behind in this list.

FC Everton to win @ 151.00 in odds

There have not been that many changes in Everton’s squad compared to last year and that’s a strength in Everton this year. They still have their key players and David Moyces is still their manager, a manager that I really like.

Everton ended on the eighth position last year and did that after a really good ending of the season. Because those of you who remember the beginning last year probably remember, that Everton dropped a lot in the beginning of the season. If Everton want to have a chance to fight for the top position, or at least top 4, they have to bee on their toes from the beginning.

If the gap becomes too big for a team like Everton early they don’t have the strength to come back on the top teams.  A bet on Everton to win pays 151.00 in odds and even thought that is a high odds I find it hard to see Everton as the League winners the coming season. Too many teams are much stronger in the top.

Aston Villa to win @ 151.00 in odds

There are many rumours in Aston Villa these days. Therefore, I would be a bit worried if I would bee in Martin O´Neill’s position right now. Aston Villa has had a pretty strong squad for the last couple of years and Martin O´Neill has done a great job taking them back to the top of the league.

Nevertheless, the feeling is that they have stalled in development lately and that the gap is increasing to the top rather then decreasing. That, of course, means that their top player wants to leave the club for new challenges in clubs where they can fight for the titles.

Players like Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Luke Young might not play for Aston Villa for the coming season and that would be a bad beat for Martin O´Neill if that happened.

Aston Villa is a team that defiantly can compete for the top 4 places in the league if their best players would stay in the club. But asking for a league win is to much asked. A bet on Aston Villa pays 151.00 in odds, just like Everton, and just like Everton, I do not find it as a value bet.

Tottenham Hotspur to win @ 34.00 in odds

It is somewhere here that is starts to get interesting for the potential winners. Tottenham ended fourth in the League last year and had teams like Manchester City and Liverpool behind them. Tottenham has often been the team that has a strong team on the paper, with a strong squad but a team that cannot perform when it comes to the important games.

I am pretty sure that Tottenham could keep some of their best players for this season thanks to their fourth place, which means that they will qualify for the Champions League. They have lots of interesting players in their squad and if they perform at top throughout the whole season Spurs is a team to count on. Luca Modric can become one of the best players in the Premier League this year and if Defoe keeps scoring and Aron Lennon can get up one more level Tottenham is interesting according to me. They pay 34.00 in odds and that is worth giving a thought.

Jim Furyk is the current leader in terms of being favored to win the Greenbrier Classic.  He is currently in 5^th position on the leaderboard for the 2010 PGA Tour.  He has claimed two wins in addition to his four top 10s this year.

Matt Kuchar is currently ranked seventh, which four positions higher than last week.  Definitely seeing some improvement here making him highly favored for this event.  Although he does not have a win in his 18 events, he does have seven top 10 finishes this year.  Last week’s event, the RBC Canadian Open, Kuchar was 10-under par and tied for fourth place in the event.

Jeff Overton still remains in the 12^th position on the leaderboard.  He has made 19 appearances this year and has been unable to claim a victory as well but has four top 10’s.

Nick Watney also does not have a win this year and has actually fallen three spots from 24^th to 27^th on the leaderboard.  He has appeared in 17 events this year in which he has six top 10’s.

28-year-old Frolov played with the Los Angeles Kings last season in 81 games in which he recorded 19 goals in addition to 32 assists.  In five of his seven seasons in the NHL, which have all been with Los Angeles, Frolov has been able to successfully exceed 20 goals.  He has a total of 210 penalty minutes in addition to 168 goals as well as 213 assists.

He was first acquired by the Los Angeles Kings as a first round draft pick in the 2000 NHL Draft in which he was the number 20 overall pick.  He made a career high in his 2006-2007 NHL Season with the Kings by recording 35 goals as well as 36 assists in his 82 season games.  Last year was the first season, apart from his rookie season in the NHL, that the left wing was unable to complete the 20-goal mark per season.

So far, this has been South Americas World Cup and they have four teams left out of totally eight. In these two texts I will give you my best bettingtips in the first two matches that is going to be played on Friday between Holland vs. Brazil and Uruguay vs. Ghana.

I will give you the best 1-x-2 tips and then some special bets from each of the matches, starting with Holland vs. Brazil (the odds are picked from bwin sportsbetting odds):

Holland vs. Brasil, odds: Holland to win 3.75, draw 3.45, Brazil to win 1.95

My bettingtips: Draw @ 3.75 in odds

I can agree with bwin that Brazil is favourites in this game, but according to me, they have become way to big favourites in this game. Both Brazil and Holland has impressed a lot on me so far in the championship and 1.95 in odds on Brazil to win during ordinary time doesn’t seem valuable to bet on.

None of these teams has lost in the World Cup so far and both of the teams has impressed with a strong defence.  Neither Brazil nor Holland normally plays with two defensive midfielders but in this tournament both the teams has chosen that solution.

After that, Dunga took over as manager for the Brazilian team they have played more tactical then before and lots of Brazilians are critical for their tactic. But at the same time I don’t think they have a reason to do that since they won both the South American championship and the Confederations Cup last year.

Holland has been well known as the country that plays “total football” which means all of attack and lots of players that runs towards the opponents goal. Anyway, even though they have made it well most of the times they haven’t been able to win any trophy’s at the end when it comes to the final games.

Therefore, this year, even Holland’s manager has chosen to play with two central defensive players in front of their defenders and I have to say that I am impressed of their balanced and focused way of playing. And this is the reason why I think that they can go far in this tourney.

Brazil pays under 2 in odds and I don’t think that they should be that big favourites since Holland have lots of world class players that can make it difficult for the Brazilian attackers. And in the offence I would say that Hollands attacking players (Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Robin Van Persie, Rafal Van der Vaart and Dirk Kuyt) are just as good as Brazils attacking players (Robinho, Luis Fabiano, Kaka). Brazil often plays with their wingers high up, putting pressure on their opponents high up. However, with Arjen Robben and Dirk Kuyt on the other side they might get some problems with their counter attacks.

That is why I do not think that Brazil is worth betting on in this game, but draw or a win on Holland is more interesting. I choose to bet on draw here which pays 3.45 in odds and that is interesting according to me.

Uruguay vs. Ghana, odds: Uruguay to win 1.95, draw 3.15, Ghana to win 4.00

My bettingtips: Draw @ 3.15 in odds

I choose to bet on the draw in this game as well. This time I also think even more of a draw than in the previous match. Both Ghana and Uruguay are two strong defensive teams and have done it very well so far in the World cup.

Uruguay is just as big favourites in this game as Brazil are in the first quarterfinal. I think that Ghana will give them a tough battle. Ghana is the last team left from whole Africa in this tournament and that means that whole Africa is behind them in their further adventures in the championship. I am very sure that Ghana will have most of the support from the crowd and that will give them an extra energy boost in this quarterfinal.

An African team has never gone to a semi-final World cup and this time Ghana has a great chance to be the first team ever to reach that far. Senegal (2002) and Cameroon (1990) are the only two teams that have made it to the quarterfinal earlier.

Both these teams have solid defence and a couple of key-players in the offence that will try to win the game for their nation. Uruguay has Diego Forlan (Atletico Madrid) and Luiz Suarez (Ajax) and Ghanas biggest star is Asamoah Gyan (Udinese) after that Michael Essien got is injury.

My feeling is that a draw is a very likely outcome of this game so that is my bettingtips in this game. After that, anything can happen. You can bet draw to 3.15 in odds at bwin and I will give that a try.

Holland vs. Brazil:

As I wrote above, I think that Brazil is to big favourites to bet on. In addition, in this bet I think that it is even more obvious. This bet means that I bet on Holland to go trough. It does not matter if they win during 90 minutes; win after extra time of even after Penalties. They just have to go to the semi-finals for me to win on my bettingtips.

Since I think that it is much more even between the teams then the odds says, I think that this is a really good bet.

Holland have won all their four matches until now and they have done it in an impressing way. In their first game they beat Denmark with 2 – 0. In that game they had several chances to score more then twice but they seemed satisfied anyway. After that they beat Japan with 1 – 0 and in their last game they won against Cameroon with 2 – 1 even though they actually didn’t have to win to win their group.

And in the first knock-out game Holland beat Slovakia with 2 – 1 after a late goal from Slovakia on penalty. So Holland has never been really threatened in this championship so far. Brazil have three wins and one draw so far but it’s actually only against Chilli, in the last game, that they showed that they can play attractive football. I think that 2.75 in odds on Holland to go to the semi-finals feels very interesting and with a great odds-value, so that’s my first pick.

Over / Under 1,5 goals after first half – Over 1,5 goals, odds 3.10 – Under 1,5 goals, odds 1.33

My bettingtips: Under 1,5 goals in first half @ 1.33 in odds

My feeling is that this game will start in a slow tempo. Both of the teams respect each other’s and that is why I do not think that there will be too many goals in the first half. For my bet, I win if the first half ends with zero or one goal.

In most of the games so far in the World cup is hasn’t been scored more then 1 goal in first half and this is the kind of match where I think that will be standing 0 – 0 for a while. Holland made both their goals against Denmark in the second half and even their goal against Japan came in the second half. Against Cameroon they only had 1 – 0 in half time and the same against Slovakia. So all Holland’s four matches has been under 1,5 goals after the first half.

Regarding Brazil they had 0 – 0 against North Korea in half time, 1 – 0 against Ivory coast and in their last group match they played 0 – 0 against Portugal. It was only against Chilli that they had 2 – 0 in half time.

So in totally eight games that these teams has played so far only in one match it has been scored more then 1 goal in the first half. Now, when it comes to a tight and tough quarterfinal, I think that the probability to be under 1,5 goals in half time is bigger than 1.33 that is the odds. So I have a strong feeling that this is a good bettingtips even though it might feel like a low odds.

Uruguay vs. Ghana

Over / Under 2,5 goals in the match – Odds: over 2,5 goals, odds: 2.45 – Under 2,5 goals, odds: 1.48

My bettingtips: Under 2,5 goals @ 1.48 in odds

I do not think that their will be too many of goals in this game. Both the teams have strong defences. In Uruguay’s there games in their group games they did not let any goals in. Their first goal against them came in the second round when South Korea finally managed to score one goal on Uruguay.

Ghana has indeed let some goals in behind their goalie Kingson but they still have showed that they have a strong defence as well. With that in mind, I feel that there is big opportunity that this game will end with two goals or less after ordinary time (90 min).

If feels strange to see that as an opportunity, but in the betting world right can be wrong and a defensive game with few goals can mean win. Under 2,5 goals pays 1.48 in odds at bwin sportsbetting and I think that 0 – 0 or 1 – 1 are the most likely results here. If any of the teams win the game I do not think that it will be with more then 1 – 0 / 0 – 1.
